Jane Van Zant
Although Jane may not be an actual member of the band, she is most definitely part of the Skynyrd Family. Jane is first cousin to Ronnie, Donnie, and Johnny. She is Jimmie's sister. I decided to add this little tribute to her as she puts so much of herself into interfacing with fans. I have had the great pleasure of speaking via phone and Email with her and will tell you she is genuinely one of the sweetest ladies I know. She always has time to spend with a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. She goes out of her way to visit every fan site on the web. I would like to thank our very own Sharon Cornog (Vanzantbabe) for introducing me to her. I want to share a little story. With all that is going on in the Van Zant family right now, Lacy being in the hospital, Donnie having surgery, etc. Jane took the time to call me on my cell phone to thank me for a card I sent to Lacy and to ask how I was doing and to say that the Van Zants were praying for me. I will tell ya that she made me feel almost happy ta be sick (just kidding). But she did make me feel so much better with one phone call than any Doctor had in over a month. So that being said, I felt this site just would not be complete without a page to her. "Aunt Jane" has A LOT of friends in the Skynyrd web community and I am sure they would all agree that she truly deserves to be recognized for showing the "Van Zant Heart" in every thing she does. Thanks Jane, God Bless, We love ya. Now, I want ta share a personal blurb bout Jane. I hope ya don't mind Aunt Jane. If so let me know and I will delete this part. One thing she was animate about is her dislike of snakes. Which I joked could not be true since Snake Skin hat bands were a signature Van Zant trademark. She said she makes the boys leave the snake stuff outside when they come over. Well me living in Arizona in the middle of nowhere we have a lot of Rattlesnakes. I kill one or two a week in my yard. So when she called I told her I had killed two more since last we had spoke and that I was determined ta rid the world of em for her. She laughed. Then I said, well I was thinkin' of sendin all the skins to her for Jimmie and Donnie's hats. She laughed and said you better not, you can send me anything but snakes. She finished with, "I'll tell the boys if they want em they can come out to your place and get em". Like I said, she is a very sweet lady, dear friend, and part of our family..
